Graceful Rhythms Dance Company
Graceful Rhythms Dance Company is open to currently enrolled students of York Dance
Arts age 13 or older by audition or invitation from the Director. Younger students
may be allowed to understudy at the discretion of the Director. If you are interested in becoming a member of the dance company,
please ask to speak with the Director.
Company members must be enrolled in a minimum
of 3 classes per week at York Dance Arts at their appropriate skill level. At least
one of the classes must be modern dance and one must be ballet. More classes are
strongly encouraged. Company members must maintain good attendance in classes. Failure
to attend classes is reason for dismissal from the company.
In addition, company members must attend company rehearsals tentatively scheduled
for Saturdays from 2:00-4:00 pm. Company rehearsals will begin with company class
and continue with work on choreography. Failure to attend company rehearsals is
reason for dismissal from the company. Company members will be cast in individual
dances according to their abilities. Not every company member will be cast in every
dance. There is no additional charge for time spent at company rehearsals.
Company members will be required to perform with the company at two mandatory events
per year and such additional discretionary performances as may be scheduled. This
is in addition to class performances as students at York Dance Arts’ annual dance concert. Company
performances may include community events, dance workshops, dance conventions and/or
competitions. Company members will be responsible for payment of the cost of costumes,
shoes, tights and any workshop, convention or entrance fees associated with Company
performances. Parents may form a fundraising group at their own initiative to cover
the costs associated with Company membership.
